Rabat

Rabat is Morocco's capital, on the Atlantic at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river. UNESCO listed the city in 2012, both its historic core and the modern capital built in the 20th century.

• The Kasbah of the Oudayas above the river mouth, with its Andalusian garden.
• The Hassan Tower, the minaret of a great mosque begun in 1184 and never finished, and beside it the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
