You travel in a private vehicle with a driver, sleep in riads and a desert camp, and spend one night in Erg Chebbi, the dune field at Merzouga where some dunes reach about 150 m.

Day by day
Day 1 · Marrakech – Telouet – Aït Ben Haddou – Dades
Over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to the kasbah of Telouet, once the stronghold of the Glaoui family, then down to Aït Ben Haddou. Continue east to the Dades valley for the night.
Day 2 · Skoura and the Valley of Roses
Walk in the Skoura palm grove among its earth kasbahs, then follow the Valley of Roses. In May, Kalaat M'Gouna holds its rose festival.
Day 3 · Dades gorge – Merzouga
Along the Dades river and east through Tinghir to Merzouga. Stop in Khamlia to hear Gnaoua music, then ride a camel into Erg Chebbi for sunset and the night in a desert camp.
Day 4 · Merzouga – Aït Ouzzine
Sunrise over the dunes, then west toward the volcanic Jbel Saghro range and the village of Aït Ouzzine. Bake bread and cook a tagine with your hosts.
Day 5 · Aït Ouzzine – Fint oasis – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Visit the Fint oasis and, if you like, the Atlas film studios outside Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas back to Marrakech.
