Depart from Ouarzazate and drive south through Agdz, entering the lush Draa Valley, famous for its endless palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Stop along the way to explore traditional villages and ksour. Continue to M’Hamid El Ghizlane, the last village before the Sahara. Meet your camel team and guides, then enjoy a short sunset walk into the desert. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp.
Begin your camel trekking adventure, walking at a relaxed pace across desert plains and tamarisk groves. Follow old caravan routes used by nomads for centuries. After lunch under the shade of acacia trees, continue towards the dunes of Erg Smar. Watch the sunset over the sand dunes before dinner and overnight camping under the stars.
Today’s trek leads deeper into the Sahara toward the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga, the largest dune system in the region. Walk across vast sandy landscapes, with camels carrying supplies. Arrive at Chegaga in the afternoon and enjoy free time to climb dunes or relax. Spectacular sunset, traditional dinner, and overnight in a nomadic-style camp.
After sunrise and breakfast, leave the dunes and trek across desert plateaus and dry lake beds. Later, a 4x4 transfer takes you to Foum Zguid, then back through remote desert landscapes and the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight in a local guesthouse or lodge.
Enjoy a leisurely morning exploring the palm oases and villages of the Draa Valley. After lunch, drive back to Ouarzazate, passing scenic viewpoints and historic kasbahs. End of the 5-day camel trekking adventure.
